Start with the facts. Build a filing plan.

Tax issues become easier to approach when the affected years and missing records are clear. Andrew reviews your original filings, tax documents, and notices before recommending the appropriate next step.

Form 1040-X amendments

Correct previously filed individual returns for omitted income, overlooked deductions, or other supported changes. Review the related schedules and state amendments when needed.

Prior-year & unfiled returns

Identify outstanding years and rebuild a practical document checklist. Use available transcripts alongside your records, applying the rules that belong to each tax year.

Corrected K-1s & linked years

Review changes from partnerships and S corporations, including their effects on individual returns and carryovers. A correction in one year may call for a review of later years.

CLIENT PERSPECTIVE

A personal approach.

Tiffany valued Andrew’s review of her situation, transcripts, and amendment-related questions. She chose another direction afterward; her review describes consultation and guidance, rather than a completed filing.

Tax Amendments & Back Taxes FAQs

Do I need an original return or an amended return?

An unfiled year generally needs an original return. A previously filed return may need Form 1040-X or another correction approach, depending on the issue.

How far back can I claim a refund?

Refund deadlines depend on filing and payment dates, lookback rules, and possible exceptions. Andrew reviews those dates before assuming a refund is still available.

Will IRS transcripts include everything needed?

Not necessarily. Transcripts can help identify reported income, but business expenses, property basis, and other supporting records may still be needed.

Does amending a return guarantee a refund?

No. A correction may increase or decrease tax. The result depends on the complete return and applicable rules.

What if I cannot pay the full balance immediately?

Filing requirements and payment arrangements are separate questions. Andrew can discuss payment options appropriate to your facts; interest and penalties may continue while a balance remains unpaid.
